Determining the Risk of Kemogen Cisplatin Ototoxicity

Diagnostics » Genetic

Cisplatin is a broad-spectrum platinum-based chemotherapeutic that is widely used in the treatment of solid tumors. The main problem in the use of cisplatin in the clinic is the resistance of patients to cisplatin treatment and the toxicity that occurs after treatment. Therefore, the development of toxicity in cisplatin treatment is a limiting factor in the treatment dose used. The main dose-limiting side effects of cisplatin are nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity and hearing loss. While nephrotoxicity can be reduced with different approaches, hearing loss is usually bilateral and irreversible. It has been observed that 41-61% of children receiving cisplatin treatment have hearing loss.
